A Conversation on Navigating Your Wounds in Motherhood and the Impact on Your Teen Daughter

In today’s first guest interview on the podcast of 2021, Angie connects with Shandra LaMotte, Teen Empowerment Coach. I am so excited to be joined by Shandra as I have personally gained so much valuable insight into my own motherhood journey as she has spent time coaching with one of our daughters. She is a beautiful soul who lights the way with grace and compassion for anyone who has the opportunity to share space with her.

Shandra is also a Lead Facilitator for a transformational organization called COR and the Director of Training and Programming for COR's non-profit branch for teens.

She started her career as a middle school special ed teacher in Oakland. As she started to burn out as a teacher, she realized that her true passion lied in fostering self-acceptance, leadership, and self-esteem in young women/ That's when she became a Teen Empowerment Coach dedicated to supporting teens realize their gifts and navigate the emotional ups and downs of their teenage years. She has combined her love of teaching with her passion for personal development, concentrating on COR facilitation, a thriving personal coaching practice, and teen group programs.

Shandra has a degree in psychology and education from UC Berkeley. She's been trained in therapy modalities such as somatic experiencing, Gestalt therapy, parts work, non-violent communication, and mindfulness practices. She's completed a 400-hour Transformational Leadership and Advanced Facilitation Training through COR, where she enhanced and refined her coaching, counseling, and facilitation skills.

She is currently working on the development of new group transformational programs for teens through the CCF designed to support teens in fostering self-compassion, healthy communication tools, and a healthy body image.
