In today's episode, Angie welcomes her first guest speaker, Ashley Shontéa Middleton. After watching a recent Facebook post where Ashley shared her voice to amplify the message of Black Lives Matter and the ongoing experiences within racism, Angie was drawn to Ashley's heart, soul and passion and was divinely led to invite Ashley onto Nurturing Your Nest.  Throughout the episode, the two women share a real conversation around racism, Ashley's experiences as a Black child and woman in her hometown of Buffalo, NY, exploring our subconscious stories, her personal struggle in identity and finding a space that is unique to her while. While there are great differences in life experiences, a resounding theme in this conversation lies in how much we are alike than we are different and a passage both women were given by woman figures in their lives to guide their daily actions.  Ashley also shares her thoughts for mother's as we move forward in the conversations surrounding race, anti-racism, and privilege in our country and beyond. She leaves us with the beautiful reminder she was taught by her mother, "Treat others how you would want to be treated" and together we find hope in our future generations. Listen in to be inspired and remember, "Keep your eyes, your ears and your hearts fully open" (Ashley's motto!)!
